Guest Speaker: DeeDee Flores – DeeDee Flores has been in ministry with her husband, Robert, for 25 years. Together they planted and pastored two churches. Her last ministry assignment was as co pastor of West Salem Foursquare Church, which they began in 1994. In 2008 they moved to the Los Angeles area when God called Robert to serve Life Pacific College as it’s president. DeeDee loves to teach God’s Word, and is passionate about developing young leaders for ministry.

Her hobbies include collecting scrapbooking supplies and wasting time on Facebook. This past summer she rode on the back of Robert’s Harley from Maine to LA, something she recommends no one ever do.

She’s proudest of her two children, Kristin and Bo, both of whom are in ministry (and are, in their mother’s opinion, total rock stars).

She’s never written a book or done a video, but once she did make a perfect orange souffle and is currently in the middle of a spectacular mid-life crisis.

This month for Trashcan Can Make A Difference we are collecting school supplies for local area schools. As California has faced budget cuts over the past few years, most schools do not have budgets for even basic schools supplies. So teachers, also known as Heros, step in and buy supplies out of their own pockets. This month we are going to support these local heros and help lighten their load by collecting basic school supplies for their students.

It’s amazing how a question can reveal things about ourselves that we never knew. In this series Pastor Mark takes a look at questions in the Bible that brought about insight to the people being asked those questions. Join us this Sunday for a deeper look at “Questions for Life.”

We are very excited to announce a new service starting on Feb 5th at 7pm. “The Gathering” is focused on gathering young adults together and connecting them to God and each other. Growth is an essential element of being a follower of Christ. Here, at The Foothills Church, we practice the New Testament model of individual believers connecting with others in home groups. We care for each other, serve one another, bear each other’s burdens and rejoice together at the transforming work of God in our lives. We believe that each person finds greater spiritual fulfillment in becoming an active disciple rather than
remaining a spectator.

Our Life Groups provide an environment for us to grow properly and live dynamically. The ways of God are practical and life-giving, but they do often crowd us and challenge us to leave our natural comfort zones. We realize it is easier to just attend service on a Sunday morning than it is to make yourself vulnerable and accountable to others on a regular basis. Being available for one another, however, is the basis for the kind of life Jesus wants us to live.

Each Life Group is like a small church within the larger body of The Foothills Church. They provides the opportunity for Bible study, learning, worship, discussion, prayer, confession, discipleship, encouragement, counsel, support and love.

The emphasis of each Life Group is on how we can build relationships, serve one another and how we can, through counsel and mercy, serve both the church at large and our community. There is no surer way to become vitally linked with others in our church than through Life Groups.

I am very excited to announce a new online ministry. It is a website for
us to share, AS WE ABIDE together in Christ. My desire is for it to be
inspirational,instructional, and interactive. I will be blogging at least
weekly about various topics, and hope you will interact with me. My goal for
this site is to have a place where we can share our hearts, our questions,
and the things the Lord is teaching us. A place where we can encourage one
another, learn from one another, and draw from one another’s gifts and
strengths, AS WE ABIDE together.

Also, a feature on this new website will be Abide teachings. This will
primarily be from Ladies Bible Study, but will also include retreats and
other special events. This Tuesday, 1/12, I am beginning a new series, “To
Be or Not To Be… That Is The Answer”.
